The Motivation Behind PEA

As we witness the increasing commoditization of IT services, it becomes evident that some of the most persistent problems in the IT world are due to our inability to grapple with a handful of  difficult-to-commoditize areas that crucially underlie the success or failure of a system. Performance Engineering is clearly  one such area. Unlike much of IT, PE  cannot be handled  by "somehow"  conducting the required research and learning in mid-flight.

To address this lacuna, PEA was formed by professionals who have had the opportunity to lead assignments that brought about several radical changes by bridging the gap between theory and practice in PE. These assignments, executed for some of the biggest corporate names worldwide, resulted in significant business and technical benefits.

Our Values

We are minimalists and we firmly believe that Occam's razor must reflect in the form and function of our deliverables.

We do not reinvent the wheel. The most amazing thing about cross-platform performance engineering is that much of the body of knowledge has remained unchanged over the last few decades.

We know that each client organization has its peculiar tradeoffs. Our consulting practice is centered around a deep understanding of this fact.

People

PEA is a bit different from your typical large, all-on-one IT consulting firm. We are not a CMM Level 5 firm, and neither are we ISO certified. We do not carry PMP, ITIL, Prince2 etc. certifications. We just think we know a lot about what we do, and we are passionate about what we want to achieve and excited about what we think is possible with a dash of scientific rigor in a commoditized IT world. We've helped many organizations, both large as well as small, realize the value of investment in scientific rigor in PE.

Rajeshwari Ganesan is a co-founder of Performance Engineering Associates. She has a B.E. in Information Science & Technology, and over 14 years of IT industry experience. She has over 25 research papers, many of them published in international conferences and journals such as JavaOne, CMG, QEST and IEEE TOOLS. She holds 2 U.S. patents and 1 patent pending. In her previous position at Infosys Technologies Ltd., she was Head, Quality of Service group, where she spearheaded the conceptualization, implementation and deployment of the Infosys PE framework. She also has vast experience consulting with several Fortune 1000 customers in the area of PE & capacity management.

Ramkumar Ramaswamy, PhD is a co-founder of Performance Engineering Associates. He holds a PhD in Operations Research, and has over 16 years of IT industry experience that spans technology consulting, software engineering research, and education. He has led CIO-level technology consulting engagements for several Fortune 1000 clients in multiple domains including manufacturing, distribution, and financial services. He has published papers in a variety of reputed international journals such as IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics, IEEE Software, IEEE Distributed Systems and Mathematical Programming. In his previous position he was Associate Vice President and Head, Technology Consulting for the Transportation and Services vertical of Infosys Technologies Ltd.

Christopher Burke is Head of Sales (United States) for Performance Engineering Associates. With over 20 years in the IT and software industry, Chris has an excellent overall background as a certified IBM Business Partner which allows him to enable clients with both mainframe and distributed environments to mobilize their resources, boost productivity, and enhance performance through the intelligent use of technology. He has extensive experience in providing Global 5000 businesses with world-class professional services and software solutions for Performance Management, Metadata Management, Applications Management, Operations Management, Content Management, Security Management, and Infrastructure Management.
