Xoriant
faced multiple needs in the Performance Engineering & Capacity
Mangement space - from advising its clients on strategic technology
decisions for their high-performance products, to assessing the
market space for niche Performance Engineering services.
"PEA's mini-assessment service provided
us with insights across multiple areas and levels. They covered
rigorous, scientific approaches our teams could bring to everyday
challenges in performance testing and capacity planning, as well
as niche, innovative PE services we could provide to clients.
With their vast knowledge and field experience in PE, they were
able to deliver a wide spectrum of insights in just 2 days."
- Bala Ramdas,
VP - India Operations
"One of our key clients had asked us to
analyze their product on 32-bit and 64-bit platforms and make
a recommendation on whether the latter would be a wise choice
from a performance and TCO perspective. PEA designed a unique
benchmarking exercise for us and helped us interpret the results
in very innovative ways that helped us reach the right conclusion."

Honeywell's
Performance Center of Excellence felt the need for conceptual
as well as hands-on technical guidance on Performance Engineering,
covering a variety of projects in the aerospace and control systems
domains.
"We turned to PEA for guidance on several
aspects on Application Performance Engineering & Capacity
Planning. The one important investment we made was in the three
PEA methodology packs on workload modeling, capacity planning
and performance testing. These packs clearly brought out what
it means to conduct each of these activities with scientific rigor,
and provided refreshingly different and pragmatic prescriptions
for incorporating this rigor into the everyday practice of PE."

Aztecsoft
had performance-critical projects being designed for diverse clients
and platforms, and wanted to lay the foundation for a unified,
cross-platform approach to performance engineering across the
organization.
"PEA conducted a 3-day foundational workshop
on Performance Engineering at Aztecsoft. The workshop was attended
by ~30 architects and senior project managers. I also personally
sat through a good part of the workshop. I must say the workshop
did add tremendous value to our Performance Engineering practice.
It has given our engineers a clear understanding of the core principles.
This along with the abundance of well thought-out exercises involving
real-life scenarios that the participants got to do has laid a
strong foundation for them to (i) reason clearly about performance
issues, (ii) define the performance needs of the systems they
build or test, and (iii) strategize on how their system would
be built/tested for performance. I do see many of them actually
using many of the techniques they learnt in their day-to-day work
- modeling for performance upfront during development, trying
to get idea of the eventual production performance from the unit
test results, planning performance testing for optimal use of
automation tools and hardware, etc.. The workshop and the grapevine
about how good the workshop was has also resulted in, although
indirectly, an increase in awareness about performance issues
among those in the organization who did not attend the workshop.
Of course the experience and knowledge of the subject that Rajeshwari
and Ramkumar carried was clearly evident. The insights into the
subject they shared certainly enriched the workshop experience
even more.”
